Retail Pricing Tips
There is no list of proven top-sellers for this popular line. All of the heatable products are selling well, as are the heatable slippers and boots. If you order in time for the holidays, these would make a great end-cap.
Buying Tip: Pharmacy owner Boyd Ennis, Jr. has found great success in selling this line in his store. He offers the following advice: “Know your audience! I ordered tigers and elephants for Auburn and Alabama fans. Be aware of what your local school mascots are. I needed to order 24 additional tigers because of a local school mascot.”
As the minimum order amount is $250 (plus a freight cost of 8 percent of your order amount), I suggest making the following opening order to save: Warmies floor display with 16 Warmies designs (3 of each) and 1 Hot-Pak Kit (12 pieces in counter display unit). The regular wholesale price for this order is $552, but NCPA members can get a special price of only $500 – that equals free freight and a free floor display!
Free shipping is offered for orders over $480. I urge you to create an order that satisfies the free freight option. Your profit margin will diminish proportionately when not reaching the minimum amount to receive free freight.

Backorders happen, and this line has a history of generating backorders. With that in mind, order early and reorder as soon as you see any amount of sales traffic. The good news is that if you place an order that meets the free freight offer and some products are backordered, the product stock will be shipped for free. Also, when backordered items are back in stock and shipped, they too will be shipped for free. Keep good records of backorders; even with the best intentions, mistakes in invoicing can be made.

Warm one up and keep one warm in an insulated tote on display. This line should be displayed on a full end-cap or 4-foot section; place higher priced product at eye-level or slight higher. IMPORTANT: Before the product arrives at your store, you will need to set an employee purchase policy for the Warmies products. Decide if you are going to discount them to your employees and, if so, will you allow the employees first pick, or must they wait a week or two after the items have been on the sales floor to purchase them? I have heard stories that first orders nearly disappeared due to employee purchases – don’t let this happen in your store, especially since some items may be on backorder.
