“One Minute Manicure has done very well for us. We put it in our bathroom for customers to use and they love it! Time and again they want to buy “that stuff” in the bathroom. They love the way it feels on their hands.” – Mona Ghattas, Duran Central Pharmacy, Albuquerque, N.M.
The tested retail for the 13 oz. salt scrubs is $24.95. If you receive pushback from customers on the price, drop it to no lower than $19.95 (this price point offers a 37 percent margin). Use the MSRP for all of the other SKUs/items. These items are not price-sensitive when comparing to similar items; however, they may be sensitive to customers’ budget constraints. Do not place a price sticker on the top cap or the front of the package/jar. When creating a sign to promote the product, add the word “only” to the price (“Only $24.95!”).
The counter Starter Package has been discounted for NCPA members for a savings of $30. Keep the added profit for yourself – no need to start discounting the line as soon as it hits the shelf! Track what sells well in your store. This is valuable information that will direct you to your next companion display purchase. Place orders of $50 or more to take advantage of free freight.
Considerations for displays after the Starter Package are the Spa Shop Display or the 48-piece 3 oz. counter display.
Top selling scents: Almond Pear, Pomegranate, Pink Lily, Ginger Citrus, French Vanilla
Spring/summer best-sellers: Fresh Melon, Tropical Coconut, and Pineapple
Note on the “One Minute Fresh” 1 oz. spray: If you have had success with Poo-Pourri, or thought of carrying a comparable item, then this is it. Usage directions are the same. One advantage for One Minute Fresh: it contains no oils.
These are both impulse and planned purchased items. The best placement is on a countertop where staff can promote and explain the benefits of the product. A second consideration would be near the bath and beauty categories of your store. It is important that the displays are kept impeccably clean and at least half full at all times.
There is a demonstration station available for purchase with the price discounted for NCPA members, but note that the station does not work well in every store. The station requires a commitment; otherwise, you will end the season with an expensive bird bath. If you are thinking of purchasing the demonstration station, place someone in charge of it and put the person on a small commission. Bring out the demonstration station once a week, altering the days you use it. Saturday would likely be your best sales day; however, it could be a great diversion for those waiting to have their scripts filled on a Friday.
Selling Tip: One Minute Manicure was once featured on “The Oprah Winfrey Show.” With your initial order, you will receive a framed picture of Rosie, the creator of One Minute Manicure, with Oprah that says, “As seen on Oprah.” Take great care of the picture – this photo will be your best selling tool!
Think of this line as being much like a candle line. The first purchase by the consumer will most likely be for personal use. When running low on product, the customer will return to repurchase for themselves or even earlier to buy as a gift for others. Any of the One Minute Manicure items would sell successfully when featured as a Christmas, Mother’s Day, Valentine’s Day, or birthday gift.
